- Iron Pyrite: Iron pyrite is mainly composed of iron and sulfur. Its crystals are shiny and have this golden color. For this reason, it is also known as “fool’s gold.”
- Statue: Stratoni is Stratonike, as it is only mentioned by Ptolemy. A fragment of a marble votive relief was found in a private garden, which likely belongs to the early Roman period. It depicts a front-facing female figure dressed in a long tunic, holding the horn of Amalthea and a cloak in her left hand. It may represent Isis-Fortune.
- Madem Lakko: Madem Lakko, the place where the wealth of the land was extracted, was initially inhabited by a few residents who later moved to Stratoni. Later, the offices and services of the company were established there, and it transformed from a production site into the center of the entire company.
- Earthquake: In September 1932, a great disaster struck the village. A powerful earthquake leveled not only Stratoni but also Ierissos. It was the famous Ierissos fault. The miners were working normally at that time. The earthquake occurred around 9:00 p.m. Its intensity was such that it was difficult to remain standing. The shift ended at 10:00 p.m. The miners inside the galleries didn’t feel anything. When they came out, they found no one. Nothing looked the same, and nearly all the houses were destroyed. “Sarafianos lost four children, Pantazis lost four,” we read in the tender book *Despoina of Stratoni*. Stratoni alone had about 41 fatalities.
- Skouries: Depiction of the new mine at the Skouries site. A world-class deposit of gold-copper porphyry is located there. The mining reserves of the deposit are estimated at 150 million tons with gold and copper content. For more efficient exploitation of the deposit, surface and underground mining will be combined in a one-to-two ratio. The depth of surface mining, which was determined with the goal of minimizing the occupation of surface areas with enrichment tailings (waste from ore processing), is planned to reach 240 meters. The remaining part of the deposit will be mined using underground mining methods.
