The starting point of the Byzantine walk is the tower of Prosforio, and then you will see the kolligadiko and the chalkadio from 1903 (next to the building of the Community), which retains elements of folk architecture from the 17th-18th centuries. They housed the seasonal workers of the Prosforio estate and the builders.
Only one spring was known at the Prosforio estate, and four independent technical works were carried out between the 18th and 19th centuries for its exploitation. These can be seen next: Walking along the coastal road of Ouranoupoli towards the Monastery of Zygos, you make a left detour 1.3 km from the Prosforio tower (there is the hotel “Skites”) to find the cistern, the fountain with the watering trough bearing the “B” symbol of the Vatopedi Monastery, and the aqueduct bridge, a single-chamber structure over which the water conduit to the fountain passed.
Next, you turn right onto a dirt road and immediately left into an olive grove, where you will enter a small path. With only 75 steps on the forest path, you will reach the point of water collection, where there is a low built gallery 35 meters long. Returning to the main road, continue towards the Monastery of Zygos.
