Winter Program 2016:

Journey to Mount Athos

(Monday to Friday 12:30)

A magical and impressive 3D journey into the depths of Mount Athos. A 3D presentation of the monastic area and way of life.

Experience the thousand-year-old Monastic State with its uninterrupted historical continuity since the 10th century. In the Garden of the Virgin, where tranquility and the forgetfulness of the worldly prevail, one is led to spiritual joy and elevation. The sound of the bells through the rustling wind in the trees, the waves crashing against the steep shores, and the sound of pure Byzantine hymns, create the uniqueness sought by the soul.

With this stereoscopic journey, the Universality and the timeless message that the Ark of Orthodoxy broadcasts are highlighted. The aim is to promote the Cultural and Religious heritage of Athos worldwide, especially to women who, due to the “Athanasius” law, cannot experience this wonderful reality.

Marine World

(Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 11:00)

Feel the magic of the sea breams and groupers swimming among you and the rays passing above you, but don’t forget to touch the moray eels. Try to catch the giant bass and tuna, but hide from the dangerous sharks searching for their prey. Enjoy the jellyfish in a magical dance and the tropical, colorful fish in a fantastic parade.

This 3D video, which is shown exclusively in Ierissos Halkidiki, is produced by the Cultural Center and filmed at the Heraklion Aquarium in Crete (www.cretaquarium.gr).

Aesop’s Fables

(Monday 11:00)

The story includes two fables, The Ant and the Grasshopper and The Tortoise and the Hare. It is the story of the hard-working ant who labors all summer in preparation for food and shelter for the winter, and the lazy grasshopper who cares for nothing. In the second fable, the old tortoise wins the race against the fast but proud hare, showing us that it’s not enough to boast about something, but also to strive to achieve it.
