It operates in an impressive building in the center of Ierissos since 2004. It was approved by the European Investment Bank as a center for highlighting the Athonite heritage and promoting the area before Mount Athos using modern technology. It features the first digital stereoscopic video projection amphitheater in Greece, where, among other things, visitors can enjoy a mesmerizing pilgrimage to Mount Athos in 5 languages (Greek, German, Bulgarian, Serbian, and Russian) with the help of special glasses.
Additionally, the Sea Navigator, Aesop’s Fables, and the Labors of Hercules are also screened. It has a modern amphitheater with a concave 50 m² screen and 4 projection systems for 3D films (which viewers must watch wearing special glasses).
At the Center, there is also an exhibition space hosting periodic exhibitions of painting, photography, and sculpture. Currently, the photographic exhibition “Mount Athos: 1000 years in 100 photographs” is on display.
