In the Municipality of Aristotle, music schools operate in Arnaia and Ierissos. In 2005, the Ministry of Culture granted a license for the operation of an accredited music school in Arnaia – Decision No. ΥΠ.ΠΟ./ΔΙΜ/22999/805/05 (Official Gazette 1034/B/21.07.2005). This allows music students of our municipality to obtain a degree (diploma or proficiency diploma) which they can use for their further career. Our future policy is to upgrade the school to a Conservatory of the Municipality of Aristotle and to create branches in almost all municipal communities.
In Arnaia and Ierissos, we give students the opportunity to choose up to three directions in music studies:
1. Classical
- Instrument Department: Piano, Guitar, Violin, Viola, Flute, Renaissance Recorder (Flauto dolce), Saxophone, Clarinet, etc.
- Higher Theory Department: Harmony, Orchestration – Philharmonic conducting, Counterpoint, Fugue, Composition
- Singing Department: Classical Singing (Solo)
2. Traditional
- Instrument Department: Bouzouki, Tzouras, Guitar, Tambourine, Flute
- Theory Department: Modal scales, Rhythms of Folk and Traditional Music, Composition, Orchestration
- Singing Department: Greek Song (Folk, Laiko, Entechno)
- Choir – Group workshop
- Byzantine Music Department
3. Modern
- Instrument Department: Organ, Guitars (Acoustic-Electric), Saxophone, Drums, Bass
- Theory Department: Theory, Harmony, Composition, and Jazz Orchestration
- Singing Department: Jazz Singing
Additional course options:
- Pre-school education for young children (4-6 years old)
- Choral school (training for adult choristers up to 65 years old)
- Amateur music creation classes (for elementary school children)
- Music workshops (for junior high and high school students)
In all these directions, students choose to specialize either in an instrument, in higher theory, or in singing. There is also the possibility of combining studies by choosing multiple departments.
For the completion and obtaining of the degree, all students, in addition to their chosen specialty, must attend all the compulsory courses, as required by the Ministry of Culture, which certifies the degrees.
