Walks in Arnea

The rich in images and excellent examples of traditional Macedonian architecture residential fabric of Arnaia definitely requires one or more walks to be revealed. Only through walking will you recognize its importance, as well as the many reasons it was designated as a “Historical Site” by the Ministry of Culture.

  • Starting from the central square, whichever road you take, it will take you 10 to 20 minutes at most to complete a very interesting walk.
  • The Municipality has designed 6 distinct walking routes aimed at enhancing the experience for visitors and facilitating a deeper acquaintance with the architectural wealth of the settlement. All the routes start and end radially at the central square, revealing both the nearby and distant corners of the settlement.
  • The shortest walking route (10 minutes) is marked in red on the map and passes through Gerogiannis Square and the Kari Bazaar. The longer ones, such as the green and yellow, lead to the northern edges of the historic center, reaching Chorostasi and the church of Saint Stephen.
